The impressive National Park awaits with walks and trips for all levels of fitness, all interest and a wide range of outdoor activities make it hard to choose ‘the one’.

The Lazy One

For a relaxed and lazy day, without much effort and sweat, there are different options to choose from. One of the most scenic ones is probably to book a day trip with Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures – and chill on a catamaran for the day, whilst enjoying the coastal sights of the park.

Take a dip in the sea, enjoy your lunch on a beautiful beach and with some luck, the wind in the sails will take you past a pod of dolphins.

Alternatively, you could book a full cruise with the Sea Shuttle to get around the park without even leaving the boat, or stop for Lunch in Awaroa. In summer, the Awaroa Lodge offers dining for all non-Lodge-residents in the Lodges Cafe and the nearby forest pizzeria.

Last but not least, for the small budget, simply relax at the Lodge and take a trip to the Split Apple Rock Beach, to get a glimpse of the National Parks Beaches without much effort. A quick 15 minute trip (down) and 30 min trip (back up) from the car park will be the highlight of your day – promise!

The Eco-Savvy

New Zealand’s Great Outdoors and the Abel Tasman National Park in specific are all about the Eco System and how to make things right.

Your best bet to get a good understanding of what’s going on while enjoying a fun day on the water, at the beach and in the forest is to join the Abel Tasman Eco Tours on one of their trips -either water or land based.

The team at Split Apple Lodge joins these tours every year and it is the annual highlight. Plus, here at Split Apple Lodge we can guarantee we have never had a guest returning disappointed from these trips!

The Thrill-Seeker

For a few years now the absolute highlight for active guests with the need for speed, splash and adrenaline is the tours by Abel Tasman Canyoning.

Experienced and certified guides take guests deep into the National Park, and make their day full of adventures and literally take them to the edge and further!

The Achiever

Everyone who is in for a hike, and wants to achieve some personal goals, can book one of the various water taxis, leaving from either Kaiteriteri or Marahau.

All operators will drop their clients off at the beach of their choice and also pick them back up on another beach. The distance between drop off and pick up can be chosen depending on personal fitness and motivation, and ensures suitable hiking and tramping for everyone.

The Conaisseur

Of course the Nelson Tasman Area is a lot, but not all about the Abel Tasman National Park. Various vineyards, cafes, restaurants and other local attractions invite guests to visit.

Let as know if it’s art, wine, cafe, crafts beer, golf or guided cycling tours, mountain biking, museums or simply a day of shopping that raises your heartbeat and the team at Split Apple Lodge will make sure to send you off to your personal highlight.
